Roman Signer: Seesicht / Lake View. Kunsthaus Zug

The video starts off by using panning, then begins to travel with the cameraman. The traveling feels fairly organic, and the viewer seems to be taken on a journey with the person recording. We can see what exactly the person recording can see, but we are still limited by the focus that the cameraman decides to show us. The focus of a majority of the video is on a limited viewing of the installation; an underground viewing station underwater, in which the viewer can look at the fish. There aren't any effects made on the video itself (that I can tell), but the green and blue light emanating from the fish viewing station creates an interesting mood. The camera has been placed very close to the glass of the installation, which almost makes the viewer feel like they are inside the water, too, instead of standing outside of it. Overall, the video has a very organic feeling that I enjoy. The sound of the water, the sound of people living their life, the sound of the camerman's steps as he walks around; it all makes me feel as though I am there, viewing the installation in a way it might've intended to be viewed, captured in new media.
