The video I watched was Magnetic Shoes.
I found it appealing due to the concept of having shoes that are magnetic and the shoes picking up scrap metal as you walk. I was really surprised in my interest of the video given Francis Alÿs' Fitzroy Square piece was not my cup of tea.
The video is very grainy, which isn't surprising given the video was posted in 2009, but I would have preferred more close-ups of the shoes as they collect scrap metal. It may have shown the massive amount of metal and brought a more powerful message.
Despite this one criticism, I think the message (or at least my interpretation of the video) is impactful. I think the piece acts as a testament to littering and how we have made a habit of trashing our environment. We may not think about how much trash we walk on every day, but this evokes that thought; it brings up a conversation that the world may not have the courage to talk about.
