I have chosen to respond to Elliot Hundley's video about Evoking Emotions. I myself have an attachment to collage, so his process and thoughts about it greatly intrigue me. The way that he talks about collage being interesting and almost easy because it's a straightforward art really resonates with me, because that's truly what collage is. You take imagery, sound, etc. and combine it together to form a new idea, new concept, new context; whatever you desire. His attention to detail in his works shows a true passion for the art, which is shown in his segment about how he uses his friend's imagery. His friends are important in his life, and he values their opinions, which pushes him to make sure that he's creating the best pieces possible when he uses their imagery. It's shows an endearing attachment to those in his life, and he uses that attachment to better his art. His straightforward approach to attempting to evoke emotions really works when he himself put his own emotions into his work. The familiar imagery and intensity of the pieces is what brings out the most emotions from the viewer, though, and his use of collage as a "foil" to the intricacy of evoking emotion shows a sophistication in his thought process that elevates the works even more. Overall, Elliot Hundley is truly a master of his craft.
