Brandon Levin Weekly Response 7
My video response for this week is on Gary Hill's "Primarily Speaking". This has been one of my favorite videos so far to critique in class. I really enjoyed the collaging and the combining of videos into one. The audio is what drew me to the video as it adds an ominous and eerie dialogue. One part that stood out to me was the arrow road signs and how it seems as if they're interconnecting through the two videos. I was a bit confused why the video sort of stopped and left a static screen for about 40 seconds. I feel as if there was more effect instead of a static screen the video would have been even better. Overall, a very entertaining and eye-catching video.

I also like the collage effect. Even though the videos seem randomly put together, the two videos sometimes connect with each other, like you pointed out.
ReplyDeleteI was also a bit confused by the video at times, but I do agree that audio is pretty nice. I can't say it was one of my favorites personally, but the analysis was interesting.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the audio makes the video more ominous and eerie. The collaging is definitely one of the most important parts of the video, given that the intent is to piece together ideas about community and human relations.
