Week 7_Response_Maya Pless

This week, I am responding to The Machinist's Lament (2014) by Jen Liu. I  honestly do not know what to truly think but I have some ideas. When I watched this piece, my only thoughts where mainly about industry. When you think about industry, you usually think machines and money. In the front of my mind was machines, yes, but mainly the people. In this piece you see a lot of people being a part of machines and modeling them? The person had become a piece and they were no longer separate. It feels like they took everything we knew about machines and big industry and turned it upside down. At one point a pipe was in a sandwich! Despite all that, the perspective was nice and it was awesome to look at.

  1. I agree with the idea that humans are becoming part of the machine. With the combining of machine parts and human from lifestyle to actual body.

  2. Hey Maya, I think your post was very insightful. This was a weird, but thought-provoking video. I agree that it was as if the people were becoming machines themselves. It was definitely a different perspective and gives us a new appreciation for the human body and its capabilities.
