Week 10_ Response_Alex Langmann
This week I am responding to Control Room - Interactive Sound Art. The video shows an instillation, where people come into a pitch black room with the only light coming from flashing red square blocks on the wall. The sound is comprised of different tones and pitches, with various beeps, clicks, whirs, hums, etc. The sound slowly rises in volume, ending the video as a loud humming noise. Since this is titled control room, it can almost be likened to the control board you see in movies, especially since a beeping noise seems to happen in tune with certain squares getting brighter. It almost feels like, in accordance with the sound, that you are slowly losing control as the sound gets louder and louder and the squares start flashing quicker and quicker. It almost feels like you're in an elevator, pushing the buttons, but you keep falling and falling in the elevator shaft until you will inevitably fall to your doom below.
An extra sound art related video I have found is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YK-cdG3GBHs , which talks about the relationship between physical objects, sound, the viewer, and installations.
