Week 2_Response_Garrett Joyce
For this week's video, I chose Kiesza music video for "Hideaway." The video starts with Kiesza getting out of a taxi and starting to walk down a sidewalk. As her walk continues people come onto the screen and start dancing with her. It feels like a flash mob is happening at some points because it looks like strangers join her throughout the video. I think this video is interesting to me because it looks like a one-shot video, however, a lot of things are happening at once. The camera only follows her so we never know what is happening around or behind her. This keeps the audience's attention on her the whole time so we can follow where she is going. I also like how it is only in one location and goes down a street because they had to use every inch to make sure the timing matched perfectly. The director also let pedestrians walk in the background which made the shoot feel even more real. She also keeps eye contact with the camera throughout the video which connects us with her. Although this video is different from my idea for my video, I learned a lot of different technics I can use when filming. This video did not use many edits at all and just let the video speak for itself. Overall, I think this video flowed well and was able to tell a story in one shot.
