Week 3 Response Katie Ulmer
The video I am discussing is Bruce Nauman, “Walking in an Exaggerated Manner around the Perimeter of a Square” (1967-68). The video was a 10 minute and 35 second video of quite literally walking in an exaggerated manner around the perimeter of a square. It featured a barefoot man in a white t-shirt and jeans. There was suspenseful music playing, like a drum beat, probably to keep up intrigue for 10+ minutes of this. The video was in black and white. The setup was like an empty room with cement floors and a square taped to the floor like a "cakewalk". The man alternates from walking forward to backward throughout the video. I really don't understand the meaning of this video, but I am sure that it is symbolic of something.
