Week 5_Response_Garrett Joyce

For week 5, I chose to discuss Doug Aitken Migration (2009). This video shows many different animals in a motel room, doing different things. These animals were taken out of their home and put in a place they normally would never be at. I think this was a very interesting concept with a title that adds another layer to the meaning. I liked when the horse was watching tv of another horse running in a field. I also liked the shots of the beaver in the bathtub trying to figure out how to get out. The buffalo and mountain lion both destroyed the rooms which I liked because they showed different sides of how animals react to things. It felt like these animals were placed here and feel trapped. It was nice to see the exhibition on three different screens in the gallery which added an effect to the scene of the video. Being able to see the different animals react to different settings added a great aspect to the film. Overall, I think this video was shot well and kept my attention the whole time.
