The video I have chosen to comment on is Michael W. Smith's Love Always Wins. The video doubles as a music and lyric video for a song by Smith. The video itself is in black and white, and the words appear on the screen in white, with an expanding, colored box around the words. The color changes at seemingly random times. The content of the video features a Christian volunteer group that comes together every Tuesday in Nashville to feed homeless people. The video goes very well with the meaning of the song, which is about love winning time and time again, even in the face of loss and violence. It even goes as far to say that sometimes love will only find you in these times of crisis, and that we all need to hear that we're loved. The context of the video itself is given at the beginning, and this was a great choice because it makes the song and the video work harmoniously in a way it wouldn't without the background knowledge. The choice to grey out the video and put the text as white on top of it makes the colored box appear much more predominantly, and was an interesting choice. Overall, although this was not a song I would normally listen to, and I am not a believer in the faith, the beauty of the video and its meaning still resonates with me.
