I watched the trailer for “The Cremaster Cycle” (1994-2002) by Matthew Barney. I can honestly say that I didn’t understand the point of the movie from the trailer, as their were no main characters nor story that is usual for a movie. I can say that they are probably in a dream or fantasy world where nothing exists but anything can happen, that’s what I’m picking up. The mythical creatures, people without dicks, and empty rooms with people in costumes lead me to think of telling a story like CATS the musical where it’s cast based and each character plays a part in telling their own story. Their is an overarching theme but it’s not told exactly, I think this video might be like that.
Hey Heather, I also was very confused by what was going on in this film. It was a trailer but I don't quite understand what is was giving a preview for. The biggest takeaway from this video was that the character definitely resembled a cat. Very strange, but I'm sure the author had a specific intention for this piece.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the mention of the fantasy world. The relation to the movie Cats is also something I drew a connection to. The different point of views coming together at the end is accurate.
