Week_7_Response_Simons

I watched "The Cremaster Cycle" trailer for this response, and I can honestly say I have no idea what was going on. I think the film must be very abstract and conceptual, because there was no discernible plot or narrative. I couldn't pick up on there being any main characters or set locations. A number of the visuals were a bit upsetting, and I wish I hadn't watched this. Maybe the purpose of the film is to make viewers uncomfortable.

  1. "I wish I hadn't watched this", haha! I'm going the opposite way and saying the video was somewhat enjoyable. It was abstract for the most part and provided viewers with very little understanding but like the other videos, it was weirdly enjoyable and gave a bit of uncomfortable sense that glued my eyes to the film.

  2. The abstract and conceptual nature of the film is what appeals itself to me, as I love the discomfort the video provides. The process of creation is such a dichotomous concept; it is uncomfortable, painful, enjoyable, wonderful, scary; it all seems to come to a head in this video.

  3. I agree with you. All the clips have nothing to do with each other. I couldn't imagine watching a whole film like this.
