Jeffcoat - Project 3 Progress
The video I used for this project is taken from the Lumetri scope view of the previous project. I was interested in how the lines moved and thought the abstract nature was appropriate for this project.
Here, I am arranging four separate layers on top of the original video. I decided to make the background video black and white to contrast the color of the foreground feeds. The top left and bottom right is reflected and inverted–as are the top right and bottom left. This creates a symmetry that is juxtaposed with the chaos of the moving lines.
I started arranging the sounds, initially thinking about conforming the sounds to reflect movement in the lines of the video.
On a whim, I found a collection of presets online that create a glitching effect (these are partly visible in the top right of the screenshot). I thought the sound of leaves rustling sounded similar to white noise, so I ran with this idea. As for the continuous ambient noise, I felt like it added another layer to the sound. I also added a flanger to most of the sounds as they created a binaural feel.
Since the glitching gets intense toward the end of the video, I felt it necessary to warn those with photosensitivities.
